Ben Fitzpatrick Quartet
Ben Fitzpatrick (Saxophone), Massimo Imperatore (Guitar), Philip Lewin (Bass), Dominik Raab (Drums)
Ben Fitzpatrick has made a name for himself on the international jazz scene as a saxophonist and composer and is the new saxophonist of the WDR Bigband.
Originally from Naples, Massimo Imperatore currently lives and works in Amsterdam - like Philip Lewin (born in Stuttgart, also currently in Amsterdam) and Cologne-based drummer Dominik Raab, he is part of the great young European jazz scene.
Fitzpatrick was born in Dublin and moved to the United States at the age of 9. At the age of 15, Ben had the opportunity to play baritone saxophone in the Jazz at Lincoln Youth Orchestra. Under the tutelage of the great saxophonists Joe Temperley and Ted Nash, Ben had great success and performed twice as a soloist at Carnegie Hall. The New York Times mentioned Ben by name and praised his performance. Ben performed at the 2016 Grammy's with the Grammy Awards Big Band and occasionally filled in for Ted Nash in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
