On 27 March, Sarah Vaughan would have turned 99 years old - she is remembered as one of the greatest voices of the 20th century and, along with Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the jazz singer of the jazz era of the 40s, 50s and 60s. Stations were the Earl Hines Big Band, Billy Eckstine Big Band, a great solo career during which she performed and recorded with all the greats of jazz, later in the 70s the Count Basie Big Band, she played with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington, Ray Brown and and and. Once you have heard her three-octave voice, you will never forget it. And this is still true today.....
