Jazzweek: Jakob Bänsch Quartet

The award-winning trumpeter and composer Jakob Bänsch is one of the rising stars of the European jazz scene and has already been compared to the young Wynton Marsalis by the famous jazz critic Bill Milkowski. "Powerful standing sovereignly in the succession of classical masters of his craft" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) he now publishes his eagerly awaited debut album Opening, which will be launched on April 28, 2023 on Jazzline.With his own bands he has already played in the most prestigious jazz venues throughout Germany and worked with international jazz greats like Nils Landgren, Bob Mintzer, Wolfgang Haffner, Billy Hart, Emil Mangelsdorff and the WDR Big Band together.He was a member of the Bundesjazzorchester and the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy and was recently awarded the Soloist Award of the Munich Jazz Prize.On his debut album, together with his quartet, he presents his own music, which is a combination of lyrical melodies, virtuoso jazz, spherical soundscapes as well as symphonic and classical elements.
