Jeff Parker Late Set
From the series "Jazzthing At The King"
Jeff Parker's mantra "Clear sound overcomes genre boundaries" sums up the guitarist's career. Parker made a name for himself as a member of the Chicago free jazz initiative AACM, as well as a long-time musical partner of Rob Mazurek or guitarist of Makaya McCraven and the post-rock band Tortoise. In his three albums, he develops a genre-crossing signature sound: a mix of J Dilla-inspired hip-hop sounds and a 70s soul jazz. Following the acclaimed Suite for Max Brown, released on a label collab between International Anthem and Nonesuch Records, the guitarist released his latest album and solo debut Forfolks in late 2021 to a wave of acclaim inside and outside the jazz world.
