The Julius van Rhee Quartet brings together four young maverick artists in an exciting Modern Creative Jazz project. Together they combine the opposites of simplicity and complexity. With influences from classical music, electronic music, hip-hop and rock, the band develops strong, vocal melodies based on the bandleader's compositions, which meet surprising rhythms and dense harmonies. The individual and very different personalities of the musicians merge and create an unmistakable sound.
Courage to try things out and a willingness to take risks meet musical foresight, and through emphatic interplay and vulnerable moments the music becomes accessible and touching.
