The young pianist, singer and composer Sophia Oster is undoubtedly one of the promising musical newcomers and has already earned a worthy place in the jazz world. She recorded her debut album "Jubilation" with her quintet in 2021 and can be heard in a wide variety of formations. Her new quartet around the multiple award-winning Hamburg saxophonist and flutist Gabriel Coburger, bassist Tilman Oberbeck and the incomparable Jorge Rossy (Brad Mehldau Trio, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jakob Bro) on drums lets her return to the traditional quartet line-up, where great artistic and improvisational freedom is possible within her compositions. Strong groove and radiant melodies - this is what the artist's music lives from and together with her fellow musicians she creates a level that is imbued with a deep spirituality. In addition to her own compositions, she always leaves room to return to the jazz tradition. Swinging jazz standards next to beautifully sung ballads that let you breathe and create a deep and pervasive calm in the room. The music of the young musician is diverse, rich in color, powerful and gentle at the same time, and gains great authenticity through loving devotion.
