Jazzbar Special: Listen To The Music Of Paolo Conte
Free admission
We play the well-known and unknown pieces of the Italian songwriter (cantautore), composer, multi-instrumentalist, writer and painter Paolo Conte. A jazz legend.
The 86-year-old, who still tours, is the composer of Italy's secret national anthem "Azzurro". But his work is much more: Cuban rhythms, US swing, Argentinian tango, Neapolitan canzonets - an idiosyncratic transnational world music, closely linked to jazz, often with deep melancholy. Two quotes from him: "My style is a confusion mental fin-de-siècle, the mental confusion at the end of the century" and "Jazz means for me the opposite of fascism, everyone keeps his individual voice".
