Rossano Sportiello
From Ascona to San Diego, from New York to Edinburgh, Rossano Sportiello, born in 1974, is a stride piano virtuoso celebrated worldwide - and has been since the 1990s, when he first made a name for himself with the Milano Jazz Gang and in performances with Barry Harris and Dan Barrett. But jazzy versions of the music of Schubert, Liszt and Chopin are also among Sportiello's specialties. In 2009 he was awarded the "Ascona Jazz Award".
Born in Milan and living in New York, Rossano Sportiello is considered by experts to be one of the world's best pianists of traditional jazz. The New York Times wrote of it as "the best import from Italy since Barolo." With his virtuoso multi-stylistic playing, he keeps audiences worldwide in suspense.
